Fashion: Closet Basics

Untitled #20

Having the basics in your closet is the best way to look put together without having to spend a lot of money. Let's take a look into Danielle's & LeShea's closet to check out the most important staples/basics needed in everyone's closet.

D&L Closet Basics

Basic #1 T-Shirts: The basic of the basics! Either a solid color or a graphic tee can be dressed up and believe it or not dressed up. Pair it with jeans, skirt, or dress shorts.

Basic #2 Cami & tanks: Wearing one of these under a shirt or even by itself (when appropriate of course.)

Basic #3 Dresses: Truthfully the LBD (little black dress) is a big favorite. It can be paired with bright or subdued tights, a colorful cardigan, bright shoes--there's tons of pairings. But also having a statement dress is key; it may it be bright red, mustard yellow, or even floral.

Basic #4 Accessories: A big must! Belts, bags, earrings, bracelets, etc. Start with the basics such as black, white, silver, or gold. You can never go wrong with these colors.

Basic #5 Shoes: Flats, heels, wedges...

Basic #6 Sweaters & Cardigans:  Start with neutral colors and then branch out to more colorful options.

Basic #7 Pants, Jeans, and Skirts: Oh, jeans! Dark and light, a good pair of black dress pants, a nice variety of skirts such as pencil, flared, or asymmetrical and you're good to go! :)

Well, with that said, here's how we do it!

How LeShea does it: Usually, my go-to items are camis, blazers, tights and/or leggings. They can be used so easily and be a simple foundation for the rest of your outfit. Even if my outfit is simple, best be sure my make up is gonna match it and my accessories will be coordinated.

LeShea's Basics Coordinate:
Basics: Leggings: Forever 21, Long Tee/One Piece: UNIQLO, White Scarf: UNIQLO
How Dani does it: My coordinates starts with skinnies (jeans) or leggings and then everything falls into place from there. Skinny jeans can be dressed up or down using basics and shoes the same applies to leggings. I am usually lax when it comes to accessories, I go for one to two statement pieces or in most cases none. I normally make my purse me statement piece.

Danielle's Basics Coordinate:
Scarf: Charming Charlie, Hooded Sweater: Japan, Jeans: Forever XXI, Shoes: Amazon, Purse: Aldo
